Step out of chaos and immerse yourself in our menopause day retreat, where you can relax and unwind in the calm and tranquil environment of Float & Booch in Colchester.

Yoga – Floatation Therapy – Nutrition – Kombucha

This exclusive retreat will be available to 4 guests. Each of you will receive one-to-one nutrition and lifestyle advice, a one-to-one yoga session created specifically for you and your unique circumstances, 45 minutes of floatation therapy, and a kombucha tasting session. Light refreshments will also be included.

Whether you are perimenopausal, menopausal or post-menopausal, this sumptuous day has been designed with you in mind as we encourage you to take time out of your busy schedule to relax and unwind. Our aim is that you not only leave rejuvenated but also armed with advice tailored to your unique needs.

Nutrition and lifestyle can have a huge impact on your symptoms. If you live life at a fast pace, slowing down and calming the adrenal system can be immensely powerful in helping you improve your menopausal symptoms including weight gain, hot flushes, migraines, low mood, fatigue, bloating, stress, anxiety and insomnia.

The floatation therapy itself contains Epsom salts to help you to float. But this is also an excellent source of magnesium, recommended to help you relax and get a more restful sleep.

We have exclusive use of the unique and calming environment of Float & Booch. The event is fully Covid compliant. The doors to the rear of the building open fully allowing great ventilation. If the weather allows there is outdoor space for your yoga session to take place. Through the course of the day the only time all four of our guests will be together will be on arrival, for one hour over Kombucha tasting/refreshments and on leaving. Although not necessary you are welcome to wear a facemask of you prefer. Each of the floatation therapy areas are completely self-contained, complete with its own shower facilities, toiletries and fluffy white towels.

Yoga

As part of the day you will receive a 35-minute one-to-one yoga session with Tunde, aka Yoga with Tunde. I have worked closely with Tunde for some time now and have been able to witness the wonderful effects her yoga and meditation sessions have had with my clients.

Yoga is known to have many positive benefits on the body, both physical and emotional. During times of perimenopause and menopause many will experience symptoms such as fatigue, hot flashes, anxiety, insomnia, depression, mood swings to name a few; yoga can help to alleviate these symptoms.

Yoga is for everybody, tall, short, flexible or not, there is something for everyone. Everything you do with your body affects your thoughts and attitude. Various yoga poses have various benefits on the body and mind. For example, heart opening poses help revitalize mind-body connection, clear stuck energy from the chest, strengthen the core and spine; back bends squeeze the adrenal glands found on the kidneys, these glands are responsible for releasing adrenaline- a hormone vital for your energy. Even a simple standing posture can help focus the mind, give you the feeling of confidence and a sense of being grounded.

Engaging in yoga let it be gentle, restorative or a fast paced vinyasa will help you improve respiration and circulation, help you achieve a sense of lightness amongst many other body-mind benefits.

Floatation Therapy

Float therapy is a powerful tool for wellness, relaxation, pain relief and better sleep. It simply involves lying effortlessly on the surface of warm water that has been saturated in Epsom salts. This will be done in one of our two floatation pods that are a little larger than a double bed and chest high. They are filled 25cm deep with water to which so much Epsom salts have been added, that when you get in and lie on your back, you are pushed to the surface so you float like a cork.

It has several benefits including: Increased relaxation - Relieves stress & anxiety. Relieves joint pain & inflammation. Supports deeper & more restorative sleep.

Kombucha

The probiotics produced during fermentation can help restore the balance of friendly bacteria in your gut and may alleviate some digestive problems.  For these reasons, adding fermented foods to your diet may be useful if you regularly experience gut issues. There is such a wonderful variety of different kombucha available and you will be sampling 5 on the day, with an opportunity to purchase your favourites to take home.

Nutrition Advice

As part of your day you will have a private 35-minute consultation, allowing you the time to discuss your specific concerns with me confidentially.

I work with women who are approaching the menopause and are struggling with weight gain and the onset of symptoms such as disrupted sleep, mood swings, hot flushes, joint pain and brain fog. Changes to your hormones and simply how our bodies alter as we get older mean we need to eat differently. I can show you how to do this in small, easy to manage steps.

Guided by you, I will help you form new positive habits that fit into your lifestyle so that change feels easy. My aim is to bring back the joy and pleasure in eating, to help you nourish and love your body again whilst helping you to lose weight and keep it off for good.

This is a new way of life. One without guilt, where you, feel like you again.

FAQ

Do I need to wear a facemask?

Under the current Covid guidelines you will be required to wear a face mask when moving around communal areas. You will not need to wear a mask when seated, eating/drinking or taking part in activities.  There will be a maximum 6 of us present in total – 4 guests along with Tunde and I who will be facilitating the retreat. If you prefer, you are more than welcome to wear a mask throughout if this makes you more comfortable.

How are the floatation tanks cleaned?

The water is filtered 4 times through the filtration system which also uses a UV sterilizer and a small dose of hydrogen peroxide. Each tank takes 1 hour to be cleaned between sessions.

Will food be provided?

There will be a healthy, menopause friendly light lunch provided as part of the retreat. Food will be pre-ordered once you have booked and wrapped separately for you, so you will not have to share with others.

Is there parking?

Parking is available at nearby at Butt Road Car Park.

What do I need to bring?

Your lovely self and a mind ready to relax. The floatation tanks are used in the nude, so you do not need to bring swimwear. Towels and toiletries will be provided. You will need to bring a yoga mat with you. Please notify us if you don’t have one so arrangements can be made for you. We suggest you bring your own water bottle with you.

Allergies

Please ensure that you make us aware of any allergies at time of booking.

I want to come but I feel worried because of the Covid situation, can I hire you for just me and a friend?

Yes indeed, we are more than happy to host the retreat for just you and a friend for that truly bespoke experience. The price for this is £170 per person. Please email any enquiries to me via my contact page.

What if I book to come to the retreat and the Covid guidelines change?

Please rest assured that if the Covid guidelines change and the event is unable to go ahead your ticket will be fully refunded. In all other circumstances we take a 50% non refundable deposit. Should you develop symptoms we ask that you do not attend.
